Entries in namba (4)

namba 南場

the muji in namba is the largest muji in osaka, with 3 floors and a restaurant in the basement.

it's in the same building as tower records. the streets behind these buildings are the center of restaurant supply shops in osaka, where you can get all kinds of kitchen gadgets for cheaper than elsewhere.

the atrium inside the namba muji store, looking down into the restaurant.

namba parks なんばパークス

namba parks is a brand new shopping center, with theaters and restaurants.

kulasu season

kulasu season is another shop nearby on the same floor of namba parks, which has housewares and a nice selection of craft books.

here's a map showing these places in namba, and also the entrance to the shisaibashi suji arcade (next).

shinsaibashi 心斎橋

this section is actually about shinsaibashi suji, the shopping arcade that runs between namba (to the south) and shinsaibashi subway station (to the north). the shopping arcade actaully continues further north, but the places and pictures that follow are form the section between these two subway stations.

standing a little bit north of namba station, you have this view facing north. this is the entrance to the shopping arcade, next to the huge toho cinema building.

this is the view if you look to your right, leading back towards the area where kitchen supplies are sold.

toraya fabric store

this store has a nice selection of cute japanese prints on the first floor. the notions selction on an upper floor is also good. it's very close to namba station, on shinsaibashi suji.

athens book store

decent selection of craft books on the first floor in the back near the elevator. also english and art books on an upper floor.

picture coming soon

sanrio store (hello kitty ground zero)

multilevel store with all the hello kitty goods you might ever want, and more.

kawachi artists and designers supply

great source for art and craft supplies, including gocco supplies.

tokyu hands

biggest and best tokyu hands in osaka/kansai. a little bit off of the pedestrian shopping arcade. when you see this street, with the big shoe store step, cross the street then walk to the right.

walk past adidas and the gap, and tokyu hands is on your left.

finished pottery!

this are the pottery pieces i made in a class at the itami arts and craft museum in 2007. the main clay and style of pottery in this class was tamba style, an earthenware from the northern part of hyogo prefecture.

the teacher had fired and glazed everything, and it was the first time to see everything i had made together.this bowl is my favorite.
but i like these two wee cups too.

muji restaurant

larger muji stores also have muji restaurants, usually at the basement level, where you can choose items a la carte, or try a healthy combination meal.

in the kansai area, muji restaurants are in the kyoto muji, the kobe muji store (in the kobe BAL building) and in the osaka namba muji store.
