handmade 4th sunday market at kamigamo jinja november 2009

this handmade market is held on the 4th sunday of every month, near kamigamo jinja shrine. facing the main entrance of the shrine, the market is a little bit to the right (across the small bridge). or coming from the bus stop, the market is a little beyond the shrine. these red banners are for the market.

it's a beautiful location, in the woods near a stream.

perhaps a little smaller than the chionji market on the 15th of every month, there's a nice collection of crafts.

antique market at kitano tenmangu shrine, 'tenjin' oct. 2009

esaka 江坂

esaka 江坂 (えさか) is in area north of umeda, on the midosuji subway line. esaka is home to perhaps the best fabric store in osaka (that i know of) otsukaya. there is also a small tokyu hands, a kawachi stationary/ art supply shop, and uniqlo nearby, so it's a convenient area for shopping for fabric and crafts.

take exit #4 from esaka subway station on the midosuji line.

after walking down these stairs, turn right and cross the brick paved plaza.

continue walking basically foward, across the street and down this street between the pachinko parlour and the shabu shabu restaurant.

it's several blocks.

on the left side of the street.

with a red awning.

tokyu hands/kawachi

the tokyu hands is very close to the station as well. to get there, just leave the same exit, and walk down the stairs and walk straight ahead. it's in a building on the right. the kawachi art supply is also in the same building on the ground floor.
